Format & Match Play

  • Warm-up & Time: Each match starts with a 5-minute warm-up. After that, you get 60 minutes of play. When the bell rings, finish the rally that’s happening, then match over.
  • Team Composition: Each team has 4 players. Before the match you pick your order (Players 1-4). That order determines how partners rotate.
  • Rotation / Switching: Partners switch every 10 points in this sequence: 1 & 2 → 2 & 3 → 3 & 4 → 4 & 1 → back to 1 & 2, etc.
  • Match Points / Bonus: Every 10-point mark (i.e. after each switch) is also a “match point” moment — these count toward bonus scoring. If by the end of the match the match-points are tied, bonus points/tie-break rules apply.

Team Value, Reserves, and Penalties

  • Section Minimum Values: Teams must meet the minimum league value for their section (A, B, C, D).
  • Using Reserves / Injuries: If a player is injured or you bring in a reserve, the team’s total value must still be at or above the section minimum. If not, penalty points apply.
  • With only 3 players (if someone is missing or injured), the 4th is assigned the average value of the other three for calculating team total (for minimum value & penalty purposes).

Tournament / Section Formats & Tie-Breaks

  • Pools / Round Robins: Teams are grouped into pools. You play all other teams in your pool.
  • Playoffs / Finals: After pool matches, teams are seeded for finals or playoffs based on how they placed.
  • Tie Breakers: If two teams have the same number of match wins, then ranking is decided by: (1) head-to-head result, (2) total points scored across all matches, (3) if more than two teams tied, highest total points across all matches.

Scoring & Match Sheet Notes

  • Each 10-point mark must be marked on the match sheet — these are important for bonus scoring.
  • If match-points are tied when time ends, both teams receive a bonus. If one team leads at those “switch/match-point” marks, that team gets extra bonus points (as per the bonus structure).
  • Penalties (for value shortfall, missing players etc.) must be recorded clearly on the match sheet.

General Conduct & Things to Remember

  • Be ready: matches run on time; warm-ups, swaps, and transitions count.
  • Stick to the order you declared at the start. No swapping who’s “Player 1, 2” etc. once match begins.
  • Respect the bell: finish any rally in progress when bell rings, no new rallies after.
  • Bring the energy, have fun, maybe throw in some neon or 80’s flair — let’s make this more than just matches, let’s make it legendary.
